I was hoping to be further along on the two pairs of socks that were supposed to be done on Friday, but I've run into a wee little issue with the Monkey socks. Cookie is using a Size 2 which is my most favorite sock needle, but she is also casting on 64 stitches. Way too many stitches for me. I only cast on 56 stitches on a Size 2. I might go 58, but no way could I do 64. I did about that many with the Waving Lace Socks in Favorite Socks (right on the cover) and every time I wear them they slouch down and I remember - too many stitches! So I figured I would just change the pattern a little bit to accommodate myself. Let's just say after hours of scribbling and thinking, I ended up adding 2 stitches to the 16 in the pattern, and adding one row to make it 12 instead of 11. That gave me three nice 18 stitch repeats of the pattern (54 stitches). I still cast on 56 though, I just decreased after the cuff, and added them back on before the heel flap. I'm pretty sure I am just going to do one 18 stitch repeat down the foot and add purls to both sides. Here's my work-in-progress.... still Monkey's right?
Lots of scribblies. Also, I love this self-dyed yarn too. Its kind of doing a swirl type stripey thing. I can honestly say I will never be able to make this particular yarn again. That's what happens when you use the sock crock pot. You get only one hit wonders.... Sometimes they really suck too! :)
Here's the Sea Blue Socks:
No issues here, except they will not be matchy-matchy. There is simply not enough yarn in this sport-weight 330 yard ball. I'm just hoping I'll be able to get the full foot! Wish me luck on this one.
OH - and don't tell me I could have used a Size 1 on the Monkey's and be done with it. I already figured that out at 3:00 a.m. this morning.......way too late.

WOW I love the monkey socks. I can't believe you hand-dyed or sock crock potted that yarn yourself!! Sock crock pot is apparently the way to go. It's gorgeous!!!

Gee, too bad you didn't use size ones on those socks (ducking and running.)
I'm glad I'm not the only one who's up in the wee hours. Well, not really, unless you're glad too. Then I'm happy for you.

I really like the crock pot yarn! The black and blue look so good together. It looks good in the Monkeys pattern.
