I've finished one cotton bib, and have started on a second one.
This is a great cotton baby bib pattern from Blossom Knitwear that I found a couple of years ago. Very easy to make. The seed stitch borders are a little tedious, but it totally makes the bib work. Also, the middle straight stockinette portion of the bib is "ripe" for adding intarsia or colorwork patterns for the wee babe you have in mind. See:
I'm using Lily's Sugar and Cream in the Potpourri colorway. I like this colorway because it comes in a one pound cone, unlike a lot of their other colors. You can actually make something other than dish cloths and potholders with it if you don't mind knitting with cotton. I think it's about 1,000 yards (but I'm totally guessing....) I'm thinking of making a summer halter...... maybe. Here's the button I picked:
Don't you just love that seed stitch?
Here's #2 in progress:
OH! And here's the first bootie, done:
Is that not the cutest thing? I still need to make its mate. Hopefully I can finish up all the baby stuff this weekend (for Zane in any event, Missy is not due for months yet), and get back to my Green Gable Hoodie which has been whining and carrying on for a couple of days now. Maybe I'll just ignore it again and spin some fiber instead. You can't let those WIPs run your life, you know? Give them an inch and they want ten inches! GAH!

cute bib and cute bootie!!! :)

ooh, look at the cute little booty. And the bib is nice too. Hey, aren't babies always pulling their socks off anyway? If you just make the one people will figure he kicked the other off.

I just love the look of seed seed stitch, but you are right - so tedious! It was part of the Dish Rag Tag pattern, and holy moley I was so tired of it.
Keep on spoiling that baby!! That's why we have them, right?
