Today is my friend Becky's Birthday. I have some finished projects that I will be gifting to Becky today, so I guess it's safe to post them here now (even though she promised not to peek earlier). I finished the Morning Surf Scarf, even though it is more of a stole actually. It ended up being about 20" wide and 60" long:
Now she can wrap herself in its wool and silk goodness. I don't think I have a picture of the full length....
Did I mention it was 60" long? :) Pardon my crappy blocking. I really must get something together with that already. I'll try to get a picture of Surf ON Becky today. Here's a close-up of the stitch definition:
It was fun to knit. Great pattern. I also finished the toe-up socks:
Bless Becky's size 7 1/2 feet! I'll definitely be making more toe-ups. I love Wendy's pattern with the slip stitch heel flap (not really a flap as no stitches to pick up!!). I did cast on a new pair of socks, but they are cuff down. I'm working on the second Two Color Swirl Socks prototype using my favorite size 2 dpns and 56 stitches. On the first pair I used size 1 dpns and 64 stitches. After this next pair is done, I'm going to do a pair toe-up, and THEN I'll get the pattern together, using all three options. I know you can hardly wait, right? ;)
I also made a hat for Becky for when the chemo kicks in. One of many to follow:
This is the Lace Edged Women's Hat. Great pattern. Also, I used the Boys & Girls Merino that I spun up from Zarzuela's Fibers. Remember? Becky loved the colors, so I decided to use it to make her 6,352 hats (or a lot of them anyway). Here's a close-up of the lace:
Don't you just love making stuff with homespun? This was close to dk weight, perfect for this pattern. I didn't get gauge, but I was close. Another great feature of this pattern is the cool swirl made with the decreases on the top of the hat:
Okay, enough pink for awhile. I'm going back to my February Lady Sweater. I've got my three extra skeins and she's getting long sleeves!!!
