I realized last week that I wasn't going to get my Ravelympics projects all completed by 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, the 24th. I was great being able to start at 8:00 a.m. on the 8th. Not so great having to be done by 8:00 a.m. on the 24th. Don't cry any tears for me, though, I received two medals out of four. That's "better than a sharp stick in the eye," as my Mom likes to say. he he (love that).
I finished the Tweedy Black Swirl on Saturday, the 23rd. One medal for Team Splurk in the Handspun Heptathalon!
This is a lot lighter than it actually looks (flashy issues). It is maybe 1,000 yards, give or take some yards, in worsted (or close to) weight. I'm thinking of making Ester with it. Do you think the Tweedy Black Swirl will go good with that pattern? Please let me know what you think. I would really value your opinion.
I also finished the Happy socks on the 23rd. That's another medal, this time for Team Ohio in the Sock Put.
I love this yarn called Happy Feet. Not too much pooling or striping, but all around lovely jewel colors (looks lighter here too). Here's a close-up of the tippy toes...
As for my other two entries, the Nutkins were SO close! I could have finished them, but I would have lost sleep..... Not a good idea, as people could die if I don't get enough sleep. Ask Paul.. (I also have an issue with it being too hot in the house, but we won't talk about that right now..)
I would lie and tell you that foot is not mine, but it looks kind of smaller than usual, so.... Hey - that's my foot, complete with puncture wounds healing from when Sassy decided to use my foot as a spring board to get away from Sophie. Cat puncture wounds itch like crazy! Did you know that?
And.... last but not least, I did more than half of the Purple Mohair, but definitely was not going to get it done on time. Here is one skein on the bobbin, ready to be put on the kniddy knoddy, skeined, washed and dried.
I have enough to do another full skein almost as big as this one. Definitely fingering weight. Maybe 600 yards when both are done. What should I make with it? Some kind of stole, scarf or shawl, right? Don't you love how Mohair has that halo effect? Beautiful color on this one! My favorite for sure. I'll show you it skeined up and washed once I have it done.
Also, I started the Spring Forward Socks and am hoping to have them done by the end of Summer of Socks, September 1st. If I get them done, that will be 12 pairs in total for the summer. Not bad, huh? I absolutely can't wait to knit something other than a sock! We're getting close now!
Good job! And lovely work. :-)

Didn't finish my olympic knits either. But I'm happy because even though I didn't get a medal, I did get an almost completed sweater out of it. I need to sew it up and finish the neckline. All I need is a couple of uninterruped hours in good light and I'm done.
Who doesn't need a black merino sweater 26 days short of spring, uh?

I like the handspun and the Happy Feet, but OMG, the purple mohair is wonderful! Good Job. A shawl for sure.
You did great to have done 12 pairs. I am just about finished with 5 pairs. That a pair every 2 weeks. Either I'm slow, or this part time job is taking up too much of my time!

Your socks all look fantastic. And I absolutely love your handspun. Esp. the purple.... gorgeous. I so need to learn to spin. I just need to convince the hubby I need to learn to spin. Congrats on your medals.

I finished a couple of things but not everything I wanted to get done. Your yarn is lovely! But I think the cables in the pattern might get lost in it. You could always swatch and find out. Love the socks too. I'm ready for Sept. 1st!!!
