I'm finally getting back to normal after the craziness that is Labor Day Weekend/Swapper's Day here. I can even walk pretty good today without my legs cramping up on me. To explain more about this yearly event . . . Swapper's Day started out many years ago, and consisted of Farmers and Gentlemen swapping firearms, ammunition, farm equipment.... etc. at the Sportsman's Club property (about 20 acres up the road from us). You get the picture.
Present day? HUGE flea market at the Sportsman's Club (record crowd this year) AND to top it all off, everyone in a five city vicinity around Swapper's Day has a garage sale. People save up stuff all year for the garage sales. It is so crazy, you either stay home... or go out and let the pandemonium ensue. This is definitely not the weekend to be going out and doing grocery shopping, etc.... you could easily lose a limb.
How did I score? Not too bad. This is my 10th or 11th year so I'm getting better at it. I don't even think I drew any blood this time. :) Lookie:
A partial shot of the 4-5 Coach purses I got. (I don't even remember how many I bought, is that bad or what!) These are what you call "good quality knock-offs". You have to know what you are looking for when you purchase a knock-off, or so I'm told. Some people are pros at it. Sorry, only a partial shot as these are destined for Christmas gifts. I'm sure Auntie Daniele will be a hit this year!
My son, Paul, and his girlfriend Jackie came on Friday night and left Saturday night. Our friends, John and Missy, came on Sunday and left Tuesday morning on their way to Tennessee and vacation. Paul and I? We left Tuesday morning too, on our way back to work... HA
Besides the merry-making, alcohol drinking and deal making over the weekend, I really didn't have much time for my Spring Forwards.
Needless to say my goal of 15 pairs of socks for SOS 08 was not met. I finished with 11 pairs. I even started another pair of socks because I couldn't handle the "alcohol drinking" part and the Spring Forward pattern. Plus, Missy said the color of my Spring Forwards should be called "Puce." I don't think she is much of a yellow person.....
This is leftover sock yarn from Missy's Monkeys and a cream superwash merino from KnitPicks.
My favorite find this year was a beautiful basket I bought for $19.95 to store some of my fiber in:
It has great side handles and is completely lined, even the inside of the lid. You can't beat it for the price. I put Butter's rovings in there.
This wool is Border Leicester and is really soft. It is calling to my spinning wheel. My spinning wheel, however, is not listening. It wants the rest of the purple mohair first. I don't blame it.
Now that sock knitting 24/7 is over, I feel the "startitis" fever coming on. How many projects do you think I can start at one time? What shall we make first? OH...the possibilities!
Sounds like an interesting time! Love the basket! Good luck with the urge to cast on everything. I must admit I'm rather happy to be knitting something that is *not* a sock!

I love the purses. Didn't know that's what they are called. Nice Christmas presents they will be.
Are you really asking how many projects you can start at once? I don't really know you in person, but I think I kind of know: how many new different yarns you have? LOL

Variety is the spice of life, which is why we need multiple projects to work on. Besides, I hear it is good for your hands to use different needle sizes.
Nice basket. Samson chewed on one like that when he was a puppy. sigh. I hope your roving behaves better than my dog.
