Everything is finally done and ready for Baby Zane! Yay!! I'm sure when my box of baby gifts arrives at Nicole's house she'll be passing it on her way out the door to the hospital. She is due a week from today. What is the rule? The due date is really anytime from two weeks before to two weeks after? Right?
Pauley was one week early. I was due on November 7th but there was no getting past Halloween without his arrival. He was born right at 6:02 p.m. trick-or-treat time, the 'lil goblin. I'm sure the FULL bag of peanut butter taffy that I ate that day didn't help (you know, the ones with the orange and black paper that they sell every Halloween). That was embarrassing, "What did you have to eat today, Daniele?" "Ah, a bag of peanut butter taffy." "Anything else?" "Ah, no... that was pretty much it." Awh the memories..... Pauley will be 22 this Halloween. How can I be 43 and have a 22 year old? Apparently I was in a big hurry to get it over with. :)
Back to the baby gifts. Why am I always waiting until the last minute to finish a gift? Procrastination must definitely be my middle name.... Either that, or I think I knit faster than I really do. Why is it that in my mind I think, "Oh, a pair of socks? Shucks.... I'll get those done next week for ya....." NEVER happens... "Repeat after me, Daniele." "You will never have a pair of socks done in a week if you say you are going to." never.
Onward... Here is the Catherine Wheels baby blanket, finito:
I absolutely love those little wheels!
And here's the Baby Surprise Jacket, Bonnet and Booties, all thanks to Elizabeth Zimmermann and her fabulous book, "The Opinionated Knitter." (If you don't have this book you need to get it, the woman is a genuius!):
And let's not forget the bibs:
What's next? I'm in a KAL called Winter Warmies. You can find me in the group "Knitting Purls" on Ravelry. We're having a ball knitting, well, winter warmies stuff! Come see. My first project is going to be a pair of knee-high socks for my friend Melody. I promised to knit them for her from her own hand spun. The socks will be worsted weight and I'll be using size 4 dpns, so they shouldn't be too tedious. Here's her yarn:
Gorgeous colors, huh? I'm not sure how I'll put them together yet. Remember when Mel and I dyed it? If not - here is the linky - Color-rama
OH! and, Mel? These will definitely not be done in a week. just sayin...
That is going to be one well covered baby.
I think there is somewhere online a random stripe generator. But I've never used it and I don't know the URL. Just thought I throw that out there. :-)
mmm, peanut butter taffy. We don't get trick or treaters at our house. No taffy for me.

That is some gorgeous baby stuff there. I am going to have to do some baby knitting for my niece. But I have until May or so to get it done.

That's a lucky baby who's getting all your gifts! I like the wheels, too. Really nice.

All the baby items are wonderful. The blanket is so pretty and those little bits of color are so pretty. I really should crochet baby blalnkets instead of knitting them.... maybe I wouldn't dislike making them as much since it would be a tad faster.
Can't wait to see the knee highs.
