I am finally spinning up the rest of the purple mohair. I have it on the bobbins now, and just need to ply it. I'm still totally in love with it.
I think the two skeins will be pretty close to 600 yards. It is two-ply sport weight. I really want to make something special with it but I have no idea what? Any ideas? Please think of something I can knit with this! Of course, I already know Megan's idea. Send it to her. he he he I'm not sure I love you that much girlie! ;)
I was looking for something to knit in between my spinning breaks and the pickings were slim. Melody's homespun stuff is all done (I'll get to that), and I finally broke down and ordered a size 10 16" circular for Taupe Gable so I couldn't work on it either (waiting for the mail person). Honestly, I really couldn't bear doing the other sleeve for Taupe Gable on the dpns with that huge honking cable. Hopefully the gauges won't be too off when the second sleeve is done. If they are, then I'll just frog the first one and re-knit it. That's how much I hate the dpns for that sleeve. Anyway, I was only left with two choices. Yosemite - which would have caused me to get the pattern out and figure where I left off and what the texture pattern was and - oh - my brain started to freeze up. Step away from Yosemite. Far away. Not today. Guess what I was left with. Yep....
I'm not even going to pretend that I don't have a huge ongoing issue with Stripes Go Round. Here it is for the whole world to see. The total nightmare that is mine.... I have tried every jogless join method out there and it's not happening for me. The only good thing about this (I keep telling myself anyway as I knit it) is that this is a side seam. I have a couple of choices. 1) I can do some type of decorative whip-stitch or something up both sides to cover up the nightmare. 2) I can steek it, having it be the front and putting button bands or a zipper in. 3) I can frog the whole thing and move on... What do you think? I know I'm asking for a lot of opinions today, but I really need to know what someone thinks other than me. Let's all remember that I'm not the smartest cookie in the cookie jar! Pick a number, any number..... 1, 2 or 3.
Moving on..... All of Melody's wool is gone! I have a nice bag of Winter Warmies stuff for her. The knee highs are finished.
Close up....
I also made a ribbed cowl and some wrist warmers:
And, I'll leave you with a picture of this new bag I got from Avon. I love it.
It was one of those deals where, with your purchase you can get this bag for $3.99. What shall I put in it?
I dont know what to tell you about the stripes. I havent had to deal with them yet. I love the colors those. Everything else looks wonderful! I love the purple mohair. You could send it to me instead of Megan! LOL I got a new bag the other day too from a friend.

I will also volunteer to take that purple mohair off your hands if you are at a loss as to what to do with it. It is gorgeous!!
I love the winter warmies ensemble you have created and it looks very warm indeed. Someone is going to be very lucky to receive that.
That bag will be a perfect project bag, I love the colors

I bet you could find an interesting shawl pattern for your mohair. A large version of Swallowtail might be nice (but I've been wanting to do that forever for myself so I might be biased!). The sweater? I say use it as an exercise in letting go. ;) The handspun stuff is all beautiful!

Number 3, if you can manage. Steeking is beyond me, at this point, but if you can do it, then it would be the perfect solution! Otherwise, just 1.
What do you think you are going to put into that bag? Knitting, of course!

I guess there will be knitting in that bag? LOVE the mohair.

I'd go with #2 - if you sew on either side of the jog and then add button bands, it should work out great..

Well, obviously you are going to put your current sock in progress in your spiffy new bag.
I'm not sure about the sweater. It will be under your arm, so hopefully not too easy to see. But you've done so much work on it, it would be a shame to frog it unless you really think you would never wear it.
If you go with the buttons, you are a braver woman than I. So I guess my vote would be to carry on, unless you hate it too much.
As for the pretty pretty purple yarn, what about a shrug or some such?

I vote for sock in the new bag, too!
As for the stripes... well, I've never managed to make that stuff work for me - I say just let it be :)
The socks, neck warmer and mitts look great! For the purple yarn.... I say maybe a shawl of some kind? Or a really pretty lace scarf?
