Happy Black Friday! I hope that all of you who were up at Midnight and standing in line for great deals were able to get what you wanted! Me? I was on a tryptophan high and didn't even know my name at Midnight! I think I might have gained ten pounds yesterday! UGH! Not to mention we brought home a carload of treats to consume for the next three days. I guess I'm on a "see" food diet until the food is gone. Poor Paul. He is such a tiny man. No match for my "middle of the night" food prowess...... he he
Okay - on to the knitting..... If you've been reading my blog, you know I've been working on several projects lately. I'm going to be adding more - much more. A lot of this you won't be seeing as it will be in the category of "stealth" Christmas knitting. If the receiver has no internet connection, well then you'll see it. So sorry Mom!
Something new? Well, I started on Daniel's hoodie (my nephew).
It's called the Bernat Denimstyle Hooded Sweatshirt. It's a free pattern on the Bernat website, but you do have to register. They have great patterns. I'm making the size 6. It may end up being a little big for him, but better than too small. I'm using TLC Worsted in the Dark Thyme colorway. Nothing but acrylic for my little four year old tough guy! I think if I gave Ava something for him that had to be hand-washed she would throw herself out the window. :)
I've also started on the yoke of Taupe Gable. All of the pieces-parts are connected now. I'm to the decreases...
Also, I started the lily of the valley border on Swallowtail. Yes, it is true. I have conquered the "nupp". Yay me..... The nupp is accomplished by knit one, yarn over, knit one, yarn over, knit one - in the same stitch. When they say do this loosely, they mean it! I learned the hard way because this is how my "probably not smart" mind works. You need not make this same mistake. When you come back to purl on the wrong side, you need to purl five together. You have to be careful because there is a yarn over on both sides of the five stitches you need to purl together. Here is the nupp pre-purl five together:
And after the purl five is completed....
I would show you the front, but there really isn't anything going on yet. Taupe Gable and Swallowtail are for me, so you may not be seeing much of them in December since the Christmas Knitting Craziness has commenced....
More updates: The Sun Periwinkle (puce) socks are almost done. I'll post a picture when they are. And Palindrome? Well, it's a time suck. If I get to the halfway point of the second skein and it is not long enough.... I'm not sure what will happen. Stay tuned.....
I also wanted to show you my latest acquisition from Zarzuela's Fibers.
I just love the way she dyes fiber. I think I like the lilac colors the best in this roving. See:
And she's having a Black Friday Sale!! Get you over there and get some stuff!!! :)
Don't forget to leave a comment on Wednesday's post if you are interested in winning the Cross Stitch book I'm giving away. I'll take comments until Sunday night, and then announce the winner on Monday, December 1st.
Hmmmm.... I seem to smell some dressing/stuffing warming up in the kitchen, and I believe Paul has already eaten since he seems to be in residence on the couch with his little sleep buddy.
OMG - she's even tucked in! I would take a picture that includes Paul, but then I would probably die a slow and painful death..... Have a happy weekend!!
We were proud of ourselves for eating semi-sensibly. We only had one serving of our favorites, including pie. No bread, but we did indulge in potatoes and gravy. Then we came home. No leftovers, no turkey/dressing sandwiches.
Love the color of the green hoodie. Maybe someday I'll be brave enough to try one.
Thanks for the tips on the nupps. I had wondered how those were done. Hopefully I won't have to do nupps for a while!
How cute is that cat!
