So Paul and I are driving home from work yesterday and I tell him about my Christmas purchase of yarn for myself. I figured the box was going to show up sooner or later, and he did say I could buy the yarn . . . he just didn't know that I had already done it. ;) Anyway, I'm going on and on about all that I got and what I'm going to do with it and I suddenly throw out there . . . "And I'm not going to open the box until Christmas." Then I think to myself, did I just say that out loud? Well... I guess I can wait a few weeks to open the box. It's not that big of a deal, right? After all, I have tons of yarn. I have all of the projects started that I'm going to do for the rest of the year. There is plenty of time to find out if anything is missing and let Knit Picks know about it. As a matter of fact, I've never had a shipment from them that had something missing. I can do this. I can do this.. I think I can do this.
Yeah..... You know what's coming next. We pull in the driveway and there's the box. Paul looks at me and I'm practically salivating. Awh hell, there is NO WAY I am not going to open that box. I don't want to tell Paul this, though, because a great deal of fun will be made of me at my expense.
The box goes inside... I stare at the box.... I open the box (it's really bad, actually.. I still have my freaking coat on). And.... a great deal of fun is made of me at my expense. Whatever. I have glorious wonderful new yarn!! All is well with the world....
I have four of the new Imagination sock yarns that contain 25% alpaca! I love the names of these yarns. (As a side note, these yarns are now hand-wash instead of machine wash. Knit Picks found that the alpaca was causing the yarn to felt).
From the top left, Pixie Dust, Looking Glass, Gingerbread House and Seven Dwarfs. Closer?
(more true color) of Pixie Dust and Looking Glass.
A close-up, though still not true, of the Seven Dwarfs. Plus, I got loads of new dyes and these...
All kinds of fun new, interesting and freakish sock crock pot dyeing shall commence... Totally.
Usually when I make a pair of socks I end up with leftover yarn (who doesn't?). Then I turn to my trusted Palette friends for assistance.
for $1.99 a ball, you can't go wrong with this yarn. It hasn't let me down yet.
I am especially liking the "Blush" colorway. Pinkey goodness.......
There is other yarn, some Comfy and some Main Line.... but I'll save that for another time.
Okay - back to Daniel's Hoodie and the "hood" from hell.... (If I ever get this hood onto the sweater it will be a miracle). Wish me luck!
drool.
I shall live vicariously through your stash enhancement.
Your Pixie Dust looks like similar colors to the Robins Egg Madelintosh I'm playing with at the moment.

Wow--I'll also be living vicariously through your stash enhancement. I've used 18,000 yards of my stash up this year & I'm going to allow a little yarn on January 1, but it would only take me about 22 minutes alone with the computer to purchase more yarn than I've used up this entire year.....
Lovely stuff, though....

Oh, oh, pixie dust, I love you with all my heart! Boy am I pathetic!
How on Earth did you expect to get to Christmas without opening the boxes? Are we great at denial? Har har. Let them have their fun, you have... NEW YARN!

You have more in your stash than I do and I knit for a living! I am humbled by your collection and recent selections. The alpaca is lovely.
