So I wanted to make Becky something other than one thousand hats and socks. Something not as big as a blanket, but big enough. Like a scarf, maybe. No... a stole. A nice wide long stole that she could wrap around herself during treatments. Something soft and silky. I picked the Morning Surf Scarf, except Becky's will be the Morning Surf Stole.... It's a great pattern. I'm using Moda Dea Silk 'n Wool Blend in Orchid Pink.
I would have to say that the silk (white bits) is not really blended in as much as I would like. More of a "nep" kind of silk, but silk nonetheless. Who is gonna complain about that? :) I'm using size 8 flexibles and I cast on 76 stitches. I think it's going to be about 20-22 inches wide once it is blocked.
I have six skeins of 154 yards each. I'm thinking I'll use at least five of them? What do you think? Good choice?
Toe-up update: I have one sock done and the toe done of the second sock. They are for size 7 and 1/2 feet, and since I am a monster 9 I'll only be able to lay them out to show you and not put them on my feet. No worries. I have a feeling the next pair will be for me. :)
Paul and I finally went fishing last night in our pond that was stocked last year. Remember the "fish guy"? Yeah.....nuf said. ANYWAY, Paul caught a catfish and I caught....... nothing. Paul said his experience was dimmed (LOL) because he was baiting my hook at the time (... you actually didn't think I put worms on myself did you?) and the dogs were with us and Shadow (150 pound lab mix) was laying on me and Sasha (shepherd mix) was in my face and....his bobber went under and I said, "There goes your bobber," and he said "Get it!" and I said, "I can't," and he said "Get it!" and I said, "The dog is laying on me," and . . . well, anyway, he did reel it in eventually. We were like Laurel and Hardy for sure. At least he caught a damn fish. Also, there was a tense moment when we thought for sure that Sasha was going to jump in the pond and go after the bobber. She was totally intrigued once she zeroed in on it. I can't wait until we get the chickens, geese, ducks and turkeys next month. She's going to freak for sure. :)
I see we're both making something 'lacy' in pink! thank you for your encouragement, I will do my best to keep the pattern tidy for the lace. Glad you like my little doll, I'm starting her friend now, Miss Christabel.
Hope your allergy gets better - mine has calmed down a little ...

That is going to turn out GREAT! I've got a ball of that sitting in my stash - it's very squishy and it's going to add just enough drape to your project.
I was knitting that scarf out of malabrigo for a while, but it ended up looking so chunky that I frogged it. Now I can use the yarn for a hat for her! I hope she likes purple and green - I have 400 yards to play with ;-)

I'm surprised the dogs didn't jump in straight away and scare the fish to the other end of the pond.
Samson would have.
Mmmm, catfish, yummy.
Pretty shawl stole thingy as well. :-)
