I spent a lot of time over the weekend spinning more of the white/beige wool. I'm trying to empty out of my stash/storage as much of it as I can so I have room for the new fleeces after they come back from being processed. It's an evil cycle, I tell you.... I seem to always end up with more in stash/storage. I can't figure out why..... he he. I want to get to the dyeing and knitting part. I have two weeks of vacation coming in June, and my plan is to have dye all over the house by the time I go back to work. Hopefully some of it will end up on wool. I did promise to show you a skein of the finished wool.
(Yes, that is more sugar and cream cotton. I'm still on the crocheted sun hat jag.....)
I'm pretty sure that I am spinning from two fleeces. One is more easily spun and has less hay (always a plus) in it. Let's just hope I have more of that one. I really need to do better on the tagging. This is Border Leicester, in any event. Nice luster! No flash on this picture, just the moonlight. I got lucky on that!
I finished the running horses hat. I can't seem to get a really good picture of it, though. It might help if I blocked it......
You'll just have to take my word for it that the horses are cream and not glow-in-the-dark white, and the hat is "bayberry" not orange. :)
I hope it fits Becky's head. The only part of the pattern I used was the amount of stitches to cast on, and the horse and border design charts. I don't know what happened, really. It started with the ribbed edge instead of the hem, and went on from there. There was one whole chart (I think it was hearts) that I didn't even use. I was freaked out about it for awhile because I thought, OMG, I'm never going to be able to duplicate this again. Then I realized, heck, I'm not knitting a sock. I'm knitting a hat! The last time I looked most humans still had only one head. I love hats.
Here's another picture I promised. Becky wearing the Morning Surf Stole...
She wore it to her first chemo treatment, along with the pink socks I made her. She is truly my hero. I'm not sure I could be as brave as she is. Love you Bec!
"Most humans only have one head."
snicker.
And a good thing too.
The stole looks great on her.
Clogging the house will dyed wool might interfere with Paul's ability to vacuum.

I love the horses hat. I think it's lovely.
And the stole looks great on Becky, I'm not a big fan of pink, but looks good in this stole.
