Lest you think I am trying to start something new before I finish seaming the Sunrise Circle Jacket, let me assure you that I am... lol
Something very cool. I first felting project!! I am making the Formal Boot Bag from Bag Style. I'm using Paton's wool (I think it used to be called Merino Style, but now they use regular wool, and it's got some other stuff in there . . . so I'm not sure of the name). It does say "for felting projects" on the label so I think I'm good. After knitting so many socks and such, using a size 13 circular for the bottom part of this bag was pretty weird for me! I'm now using the size 11 circular, but it's still really big! I think the front panel (which you don't felt) is knitted with a size 8. That size I can deal with! What do you think so far?
I like that I can store the yarn inside while I'm working on it! I believe the colorway is Chestnut Tweed. Cross your fingers that once I felt this bag it is still big enough for a human and not my niece's doll!!! lol
Okay Okay - Sunrise Circle Jacket update: I am seaming.... still. forever.
I had a hard time figuring out how the three pieces went together. The above is a picture of the underarm join (oh how I love thee mattress stitch) I finally got after the third or fourth try. Also, I realized that I forgot the hem part (doing the purl row) on the back piece at the top where the neck goes which would have helped me a lot when I was trying to figure out where to seam it.
Yep - I don't see any purls back there.... ooops.
And... thank goodness I do sewing and quilting (okay - used to). I needed a LOT of pins!
Yes, that's right folks, this jacket has a hem all the way around it. Even the bottom of the sleeves are hemmed. I used the same yarn to seam it, but the hemming has to be done with thread.
So.. guess what I'm doing now?
Ho Hum.......
Holy smokes that's a high maintenance sweater.
Don't forget to put your purse in a zippered pillow case or lingerie (sp?) bag before you throw it in the washer to felt.
It will throw lint during the process. I've heard about people jamming up their machines with the lint because they didn't bag the project.
